We need cooperation from all our snowmobile riders!! The Town of Inlet has issued a revocable permission letter for our club to groom trail C8B which follows both sides of Uncas Road in Inlet from Route 28 and Trail 5. This trail is a corridor trail that connects to Raquette Lake. The residents of this road have complained of snowmobilers not staying on the trail and veering off onto private property. In order for our club to continue receiving funding from the New York State Parks and Recreational grant-in-aid program, and for snowmobilers to not lose the use of this trail, please stay on the groomed trail so the club can continue maintaining this trail for your use. We thank you all in advance for spreading the word to all snowmobilers who use this trail.

Due to medical issues of many of our club's Board of Directors, club-sponsored rides will not be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this season. But that does not preclude a group of club members meeting at the same location at the same time and deciding to ride together, just not as a club-sponsored event.

The Inlet Barnstormers Snowmobile Club will be sponsoring a second Snowmobile Safety Course for this winter season. Space is limited and youths must be registered to attend. Walk-ins will not be accepted. The course is scheduled for Saturday, January 19th, and registration will open on Wednesday, January 2nd. Pre-registration is required and calls will not be accepted before the specified dates for each course. Register by calling instructor Ernie Gilbert at 315-369-3695.

Youth ages 14 through 17 years old may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, without adult or other supervision if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York. If youth ages 14 through 17 years have not completed the training course, they may operate a snowmobile if accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is at least 18 years of age. Youth ages 10 through 13 may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York and are accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is at least 18 years of age. Children less than 10 years old or less than age 14 without a safety certificate may operate a snowmobile only on lands owned or

leased by their parent or guardian. A non-resident operator who is a resident of another state or country and is the holder of a valid snowmobile safety certificate issued by that state or country shall be considered the same as the holder of a New York State Safety Certificate. Additional information can be found at:

The club recently received word from The Beeches Resort in Rome that the business will be closing permanently as of January 1st. If you have made reservations there, we do not believe that your credit cards have been charged, but you might want to check your account to be sure. But the good news is that we have an alternate venue for this event, The Tailwater Lodge (located at 52 Pulaski Street, Altmar, NY) has just expanded and has increased the hotel size to 88 rooms, an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, full-service restaurant and bar, outdoor fire pits, two game rooms and a fitness center.  Reservation Directions: Guests can call the Tailwater Lodge direct at (315) 298-3434 and ask for the group rate for the Inlet Barnstormers on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 ($99 per room, per night).  OR if guests would prefer to book online, go to , enter the arrival/departure dates and the Group Code: BARN, enter their credit card information and they will receive an immediate confirmation. This venue is south of Redfield, where many of us have riden to in previous years. With NY Trail C5A nearby, Tailwater is perfectly located to make our snowmobile trip easy and fun. Guests can enjoy ride-in, ride-out accommodations, with trailer parking and easy-on, easy-off trail access. We will leave from the groomer barn on North Street in Old Forge at 8:30AM on Tuesday and ride to The Tailwater Lodge. We will get to the Tailwater Lodge mid-afternoon after stopping for lunch on the way. You can also drive down by car and meet us there for all the fun. If you plan on riding your sled, please call Bob Gates at 315-527-0760 so he will know who to expect on the ride. We will have vehicles to take your luggage if you wish.  Any other questions, give Bob a call. If we are not able to ride the sleds due to trail conditions, we will all be driving our cars to enjoy the fun. Snow or no snow we will still go. Hope to see you there!

The club is always looking for volunteers to help with club events and projects.   Remember that the club has incentives for volunteers. Please contact any club officer for additional information. Phone numbers are listed on page 1.

All club membership vouchers expire on March 31 each year. If you haven't already renewed your membership, now is the time to pay your dues.  You can renew online using your credit card, and you instantly get your voucher to print to take to the DMV for the discount.

If you plan to come to Old Forge/Inlet during the winter season, you should be aware that you need to renew your New York State Snowmobile Registration before you arrive. The local Department of Motor Vehicles office in Old Forge has limited operating days and hours, and also there is not a way to obtain a club membership voucher locally to get the discount from DMV. You can always join our club online to get your voucher (for you to print) through the NYSSA website, but plan on stopping at a NYS DMV office before you head north from the NYS thruway.

The club continues to need your help to make the gas tax refund a success.  All those gallons of gas that YOU use on the snowmobile trails include sales tax that the club can get refunded to buy equipment and for trail maintenance etc. You do have to buy the gas in New York State. Use the Gas Tax Refund form that you can download from the club’s website. You must attach the gas receipt for each purchase that you put on the form.  When you fill up a page you must sign it on the bottom which gives the Inlet Barnstormer permission to apply for the sales tax refund for the gas you purchased.  Please make a copy of the form (download here) before you start filling it out so that you always have a blank sheet to start again when you have filled up the first sheet (or download the form from our website).  THAT’S IT!  So, send the completed forms to the address on the bottom of the GAS TAX form!   Also, when you are purchasing snowmobile gas locally at the following businesses, there will be containers with the club's logo for you to drop in your receipts so the club can do the paperwork for you: Country Market Sunoco in Thendara; FasTrac, Enchanted Gas and Old Forge Camping Resort in Old Forge ; Big Moose Yamaha/Arctic Cat and Clark's Marina in Eagle Bay; Inlet Marina and E-Z Mart in Inlet. The club thanks you in advance for your help.  Call Howard Dailey if you need additional information, phone 315-369-2716.

The Board of Directors invites you to stop by to see the buildings where we store our trail grooming equipment. The address is 23 Uncas Road (corner of Uncas & Evans Roads). Call any of the directors listed on page one to make sure someone will be there to greet you. Your help would also be appreciated if you would like to volunteer for some of the trail maintenance and grooming or any of the other club activities. Contact any club officer for additional information.

Stay in touch online, with our website, and follow us on Facebook, Inlet Barnstormers Snowmobile Club.
